Latin America and the Epstein Files
Flight manifests, contemporary communications, agency responses and investigative reporting provide different levels of proof. The country map and evidence register separate firsthand testimony from institutional records, financial instructions and reported leads. Each case identifies the limits of the available proof.
What the records establish
The Guayaquil documents connect a publicly reported 2004 modeling event with an aircraft itinerary recorded on the same dates. Local reporting published on August 25 identified Jean-Luc Brunel as a contest judge and scheduled the finale for 7 p.m. that evening. The flight-log transcriptions list an August 25 departure from Guayaquil, but the original handwritten departure time has not been authenticated. These documents cannot establish that Epstein attended the evening finale.
A January 2006 JPMorgan account statement supplies a different kind of evidence. It records a $500 outgoing instruction dated January 25 that was reversed on January 30 because the receiving bank could not apply it. A separate January 31 debit names the same proposed beneficiary. The evidence does not establish the final settlement of that instruction. Its references to Punta del Este concern Uruguay; reporting about the payee's association with Argentina requires a separate geographic label.
In Costa Rica, prosecutors confirmed that an inquiry numbered 26-000155-0994-PE was opened in February 2026 without an individually identified suspect at that stage. No verified subsequent disposition has been established in this register. This Atlas withholds information that could identify a possible minor and treats the inquiry according to its recorded procedural status.
In Brazil, reporting about 2016 correspondence describes Epstein considering the purchase of modeling agencies. The Brazilian Ford Models operator publicly denied that the business was for sale or that there was contact with Epstein or an intermediary. Separate investigations by BBC News Brasil and the Miami Herald document accounts of models and women approached for opportunities in the United States. Those accounts warrant close examination of recruitment practices and paperwork, while the disclosed record does not establish that every contacted agency participated in abuse or knowingly facilitated an offense.
The Peru and Colombia records call for different distinctions. February 2002 messages discuss Peru travel arrangements and introductions to women, without independently establishing that any such introduction occurred. In a July 2025 Justice Department interview, Ghislaine Maxwell retrospectively described a Colombia trip involving Epstein. Andrés Pastrana has acknowledged a helicopter demonstration while disputing accounts of actual violence. The interview is evidence of what Maxwell said; independent contemporary movement documents and proof of wrongdoing by other people remain unverified.
Other records involve access to institutions and possible commercial relationships. An Ecuadorian report records a 2013 government meeting involving DP World's Sultan bin Sulayem, while a separate reported message describes his stated ability to help Epstein in Ecuador. The existing record does not prove that Epstein obtained a concession or public benefit. Proposed Venezuelan oil discussions and a Chilean energy pitch likewise require readers to distinguish a proposal from an executed transaction. OCCRP separately reported that Epstein bought at least $4.5 million of PDVSA-issued bonds beginning in 2012, based on released files, with later purchase orders. The newsroom's financial finding concerns securities exposure and should not be merged with the reported abandoned Derwick/Orinoco joint venture. The original brokerage execution records have not been independently reviewed in this Atlas. Neither instrument establishes that Epstein received a public concession or traveled to Venezuela. The country navigator below preserves the source level and explicit limitation for each record.
Venezuelan financial distinction: OCCRP, February 11, 2026 (reported bond investments, original trade records not independently audited); separate proposed joint venture in A63-E010.
Some original Justice Department PDFs require an age-verification step, and other document hosts may be unavailable or restrict access. Where an independent searchable transcription exists, each case labels that secondary reading aid separately from its cited original. A link opening successfully does not certify the document's contents or establish an accusation.
Reference points: El Universo, August 25, 2004; JPMorgan statement, EFTA01526604; Teletica, February 24, 2026. Documents have different levels of verification; full case cards below retain the limitations.

Map markers identify approximate country centers for research navigation. They do not identify the location of an offense or a person's presence. Select a marker or use the accessible country selector below.
